Fifth HTBA virtual gathering for adoptees a success

Gilli Bruce and Claire hosted the fifth annual gathering for adoptees on Saturday 18th April. 40 adoptees came together to share experiences, learn from one another and discuss how to further evolve the HTBA community. Thank you to everyone who attended and to the breakout room hosts for helping make sure it was a comfy and safe event.

Thank you so much for Saturday’s event - it was the first time I’ve attended anything like that. It was only the second time I’ve been in the company of other adoptees & it was enlightening, as were the talks. Lots to think about. 5/5 for the day - thank you!
Breakout rooms were my highlight.

Thank you very much for yesterday- i thought it was all excellent - 5 out 5 - i would give a 6 if i could!! I thought your story was bravely and brilliantly told and set the scene very well. Enjoyed the break out sessions and of course Gilli’s session and the meditation. And LOVED the dancing at the end - what a good idea!

Counsellor and adoptee, Gilli Bruce'’s brilliant talk on ‘Doing the work’

Claire, I think I most valued your adoption story. Like you I wanted to search as soon as I could and when you shared meeting your mum on your own - I did the same. When I look back it was so sad to think that we had to do that type of thing alone - it’s such a massive leap of faith for people so young.

Anyway the point is thank you for sharing - that’s what I appreciated the most.

It was such a great event, really life affirming - and strangely hearing other adoptees experiencing difficulties (I wish it wasn’t so) makes personal experiences much easier.

I really thought Gilli’s talk was great and your sharing of your story. Also the breathing exercise at the end was very relaxing.

What you guys are doing is inspiring and empowering. Together we can and will make a difference.
