Connecting with other adoptees is vital, and it should not cost you anything…. however….
Our promise to adoptees
Claire started HTBA with this goal: to help just one person feel less alone. Now hundreds of thousands of people have visited and interacted with HTBA!
We promise that we will never ‘profit’ from adoptees, over and above a reasonable charity-benchmarked salary for Claire and any renumeration for speakers, facilitators and volunteers.
The goal is to be fully funded by grants and by the government who looks after adoption services - which includes adopted adults. We are not currently there yet, so we do have to charge for some services. Once we are, we hope for all services to be free or by donation.
You can help us get there by telling your local authority (or regional adoption agency) about How To Be Adopted and telling us of any useful contacts in grants and funding, etc!
It’s a bit chicken and egg - we have to prove people need and are using the services before people offer us funding!
Of course, if you are in a position to do so, you’re very welcome to donate and/or buy some merch!
Ps we also promise to promote other adoptee-led services and events even if they clash with our events. We are all in this together!
“How To Be Adopted is the fourth emergency service!”
